Family of Four (May be a graphic post to some…you’ve been warned!)

There is a lot to say for this post. First, we did their family session at the beach last year and it went really perfect. Mom raved about those photos so going into this shoot I was a little nervous about living up to the last session. To start it off they drove from over an hour away and when they got within a few minutes away they made a quick stop. On their way to the car their youngest son tripped and literally landed on his face on the cement. When we all met up he was still quite upset (very understandable…poor thing)! We started playing and eventually he joined in and it seemed like it was all going to turn around but next….he was running down a hill with a kite flowing behind him and fell. And he was upset again. Then he was happy again and he was swinging and he slipped out of the front of the swing and as he was getting up it hit the back of his head (it was a rubber swing and not moving very much but still..)So, needless to say his day wasn’t going very well and in turn poor mom was stressed because the session wasn’t going as she had imagined it. Next we decided to go feed the ducks. From this point on things started to improve as far as taking pictures but there was another surprise coming!

And this is where it may be graphic to anyone that is squeamish about large rodents with long tails. WARNING: pictures at the bottom of blog post!

Just when you think you’re feeding a group of cute ducks…

you look up and right in front of you and out of nowhere appears a non-duck! A non-duck with whiskers and a very long tail!

Apparently, he or she is fed a lot because it was not scared and came right up for its share of bread.

At first glance you think you’re looking at a Beaver (of which I’ve never seen in person…don’t even know if they’re in this area…probably not but since I saw a bear crossing the road sign near Destin, Florida this year you never know. That’s a whole other story) but then we quickly realized it was a Nutra Rat. And it had friends. We spotted 5. And when we moved down to a dock over the water most of them swam their way over to where the ducks were going. Two of the younger ones were even fighting in the water. And another fact in case you’re interested (I’m sure you’re not but I’m going to tell you anyway:) is that their back feet are webbed just like a duck. So, the lesson to learn here is that when you’re going to feed ducks that walk up the bank from the water you need to watch every.single.thing that walks up for bread.

Ms. T – 4 Years Old

This is Ms. T who just turned 4. I can’t believe it because she’s the little girl in the picture that I get the most comments about. In the picture she is having a stare-off with a horse who is hanging his head out of his stall window. She was one then! And NOW SHE’S FOUR! At her 2-year pics she didn’t want anything to do with me and my camera but now she will willingly pose and give me that gorgeous bright-eyed smile. Hope you guys enjoy the peek:)

Big Sister, Middle Sister, and Little Miss Head Honcho Sister

Littlest Miss had me laughing…a lot. She has a ton of personality and there was no making/bribing/pleading with her to sit still or pose. Her older sisters are such great sports and did whatever was necessary for everyone to be in some shots together. They were stacked…they had to run…and run and run…they played Ring Around the Rosie…and the list goes on. It was extremely hot and I’m proud of them for sticking it out. Great job girls!!

Hope you enjoy the peek.

Short & Sweet

Amazing clients that I see several times a year and I even saw them again last night for Miss T’s 4th birthday pics. They had family in from out of state and wanted a picture of everyone together. I’m pretty sure there was some ice cream bribing going on and luckily it worked pretty good:)

One More Family Group

Such a nice family and a gorgeous setting for pictures. We did the session at one of their homes and it was really pretty. It was spacious with green, green grass. There was a hammock, a nice new fence, a dog, a cat, and some chickens (that managed to make it into the background of a few pictures).

It was wonderful meeting everyone and I hope you enjoy your peek:)

No Warning Needed:)

A couple of people in this family voiced concerns about how the session would go. There are lots of people….lots of kiddos…would they cooperate? They tried to give me a little warning. BUT, it totally wasn’t necessary. Everything went so smoothly. Everyone did such a great job (especially the kids)! I always love the dynamics of a large family and this one didn’t disappoint. Just take a look at the first picture!

A Running Tradition

One of my regular families that I adore. Mom had scheduled the shoot months and months in advance….we’re in a drought….I can probably count on one hand the number of times that it’s rained this year…and wouldn’t you know that it started raining on this day. Being bound and determined to make it happen since a lot of the family was there and they were hoping for a group shot I headed there in the pouring rain. I hoped that by some miracle it would stop (just for a little while please) or give a break to grab some pics. We started in some sprinkles. The family were so sweet posing in the drizzle:) After just a bit it stopped enough that I didn’t even have to hold an umbrella over my camera…Yea!!

I think I’ve mentioned it before but their mom has such a laid back parenting approach that I’m always in awe of. The girls are free spirited and run and have fun the entire time. And boy do they run! Especially Ms. M. I always have over half of the pictures of her in a full run coming towards me…and that’s when I get the best smiles of her. Little sister is a little more reserved but eventually she jumps in to run too.

I enjoyed seeing you guys. Hope your vacation and birthday party were wonderful:)!

I think this is where I had to put a shoe on my head to get a good laugh. Hey, it worked!

Tiny & Precious

Sweet baby girl that was pretty tiny but had the longest fingers and feet! She was the last newborn session last week and we couldn’t have ended on a better note. She slept really, really good, let me move her over and over, and gave a few smiles. Mom wasn’t planning on getting in any pictures but I’m so glad we talked her into it because mom, dad and Ms. K all look beautiful together.

I just love wrinkles and fuzz!!

Newborn Baby Girl – Miss B

Here’s the 2nd newborn from last week and she was so tiny and sweet. Once we wore her out she slept like a champ and even gave up some smiles.

Mr. B & his Family

It’s time to catch up on some sneak peeks! This was my second time to work with this family and it went really good! Both kids were full of smiles and Ms. B was especially full of posing ideas and smiles. Hope y’all enjoy the peek:)

It’s so cute…while he’s gaining teeth…

she’s losing hers.
