Ice cream, bubble gum, M&M’s…

Just these words brought about big smiles and adorable little smirks. She has the bluest eyes and the tanest skin. Such a gorgeous combination! AND she adores, I mean really, really adores her big brother. And the cool thing is that he adores her back. Enjoy guys!

My Awesome Neighbors

Five years ago we had a new house built in a newly developed neighborhood hoping to settle in with other new, friendly people. For some reason our particular street seemed to be one where most of the people kept to themselves. Sure, there was the friendly wave and a few neighbors would visit, but overall, not too much going on between each other. However, during the past 10 months we’ve had a huge change. Some new neighbors moved in (bringing some awesome kids that mine LOVE) and we started to congregate more. And then more. And more. And as it is now we’ve been having block parties pretty regularly. We have a blast — the kids run around, we eat, some drink, and we’ve been known to plot a practical joke or two against the family that for some reason or another couldn’t make it to that particular gathering. Unfortunately, two of these practical jokes have happened to the gorgeous family below. They were wonderful sports about it though! Thanks Margarita and Andres for that! Two weekends ago we were the family that couldn’t make it and I heard through the grapevine that there was some plotting against our yard until Margarita told them that it was best not to since I was doing her pictures the next week. So glad for that:)

I really loved that we did their pictures in their home. It think it really showed so much about them. Their little one is adorable, and they’ll be adding one more pretty soon. I can’t wait to meet her!

I LOVE this armoire. I had to get lots of pictures in front of it:)

Horses, and cats, and Texas, oh my!

This was another 1st birthday shoot. Unfortunately, Tatiana wasn’t acting herself this day. Which I swear always happens. It’s like the law of gravity — only it’s the law of my-child-is-going-to-end-up-with-a(insert cut, bruise, rash, sickness, etc…)-this-day because this is the day we’ve planned and prepared for. It always happens. I know because it always happens with my own kiddos. Poor thing! She kept putting her fingers in her mouth like her teeth were bothering her and by the end of the shoot she was getting hot with a fever. She was quite the trooper though and we were able to get some smiles before we realized she was getting sick.

We were going for a “Rustic Texas” theme and we couldn’t have come across (or trespassed across) a better location. We went to some local stables where my 2 girls used to take riding lessons. The owner’s daughter told us we could come by any time and visit the horses and this location popped into my head after the clients told me what style they were going for. I thought we’ll stop by and if I see the owner I’ll ask her if she minds. Well, I never saw her and there were several horse owners there just bathing, feeding, or letting their horses out. No one really said anything except a few nice comments about how cute little Tatiana was. So, we did our thing. And the thing that I find amusing is that I figure that after we left there was a conversation that went a little like this:

“Did you know those people?” “No, did you?” “No, but I figured you did. The little girl was adorable.” “Well, where did they come from?” “I don’t know, maybe they know Ms. X.”
Shrug, shrug

I mean afterall, when the owner’s daughter said we were welcome to stop by any time and visit the horses she didn’t actually say that I couldn’t bring my camera and other people with me when I visited the horses. Right?? So, I figure I’ve just justified our position with using these stables as our shoot location. Ha!

I love what the sign to the left of the chair says: To become old and wise you must first be young and stupid.

2 Little Teeth

As I went through the pictures for the first time I noticed two recurring themes. The first thing I noticed was that in every other picture Ms. Sophie was bending over picking something up to put in her mouth. The second thing that I noticed was her adorable 2 little teeth that showed oh-so-cutely when she smiled for us. I think she is the biggest doll and I just absolutely adore her smile. We covered just about everything for these pictures…balloons, cake for her 1st birthday, a tutu, tall grassy pictures, urban pics, etc…. Enjoy the sneak peek guys!

She just got through digging into her chocolate cupcake.

Drums should be illegal

We’re back from almost 2 weeks of an awesome vacation, and there’s so much to say that I was trying to think about where to begin and then I hear …. bam, bam, bam coming from the other room. This is thanks to our friends Lisa & Henry and their great idea to introduce Drew to their son’s drum set that they’re trying to get rid of (thanks guys). We borrowed one drum just to get it out of his system and we’ve been listening to it A L L day long. I think paybacks are in order! Any ideas?

Well, we traveled from Texas to Missouri to southern Indiana and then to Zionsville, Indiana. We visited family and friends and had a blast! I’ll be sharing pics from our time away over the next couple of posts. I had to leave a few things undone before we left and I’ve been working on catching up on those ever since we got home. My husband and I also attended the Free To Succeed tour with David Jay and Jasmine Star this past week and I have to say it was amazing! So informative, funny, and inspiring. If they are heading anywhere in your direction I would highly recommend attending. (And you do not have to be a wedding photographer to get something out of this.)

The pictures on this post are my husband’s adorable cousin and her family. They were gracious enough to host an all-day get-together at their home while we were there where the kids swam, played with cousins, ate and ate some more. Thanks Jenny and Curtis!!!

Fun Family Pics

Huge kudos to these parents. They went above and beyond trying to get the perfect looks from Mr C. I was cracking up the entire time as they sang, jumped, shrieked… anything it took. They just convey happiness, and I hope that comes across in their pictures. I hope it was a good experience for you and that you had fun, I know I did. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Shy and reserved…

is what Miss C normally is. And that’s how she was on the first photoshoot that we did together. In fact, out of 3 sisters I would never have guessed that she’d be the one to find a joy in posing and being in front of the camera. She absolutely loves having her pictures taken now. She thinks about clothing, hair, poses…a photographer’s dream. She talks of being a model. I think she’d be perfect! I had a blast “C” and I hope you did too! See ya next time!

No B&W’s for this girl

I usually like to include a black and white in the sneak peek, but I just can’t stand to with this little one. Her eyes just show up so much in all of the color ones that the B&W’s don’t do her justice. Isn’t she adorable?

Sun-loving Baby

Little Miss C was such a good baby. She did really well while we did pictures indoors, but boy, when we took her outside she immediately snuggled into the blanket, got really cuddly, and closed her eyes. She wasn’t actually asleep but she looked like she was enjoying the warmth of the sun. Such a cutie.

A Little Reluctant

My friend, Amy, reminded her parents that their kids didn’t have any recent pictures of them. She begged, pleaded, and (I believe) demanded them to take the opportunity while in from out of town to have some pictures taken. I have to say I think a lot of excuses were given and they were a bit reluctant…so she apologized in advance to me for their non-cooperative behavior. BUT…they were awesome, I had a fun time, and I really hope they ended up having fun, too. I think they did because there are quite a few playful, loving, having-a-good-time-with-each-other type of pictures out of the shoot. Enjoy your sneak peek!

This one cracks me up…look closely at their hands.
