This family added another girl since I’ve seen them and she’s adorable! She looks a lot like her big sis! There were great clothes, big smiles and lots of color(which makes me happy). Hope you enjoy your peek:)

One of the first things that I did when I started my photography biz was to do photo sessions for a local resale shop. The kids in this blog post were some of the very first to do pictures there and then their mom wanted to do a Galveston session and that was the first beach session that I did. Here they are then: And here they are now: This was hands-down the windiest session I’ve ever done. The wind is always worse at the beach but O.M.G. it was strong. I had already suggested that the females wear their hair pulled back and I’m really glad that they did. The 2 boys that look about the same age are cousins that are 5 months apart. Lucky kids! They couldn’t wait to get to the beach and once there they had a blast running around. Some kids don’t like the feel of grass or weeds touching their legs…not little Miss P. She literally was running herself through tall grass, falling in it, laughing, getting up and doing it again. Quite the adventurous little girl. Isn’t she gorgeous? Okay I can definitely say that I’m not, nor have I ever been a birdwatcher. Well, while we’re doing this shoot of one of my very favorite families the dad sees what looks like a duck way up in the tree. Hmmmm, I didn’t know ducks sat up in large oak trees but, whatever;) Skip ahead a few minutes and low and behold another duck-like bird is up in the trees. Now we can see that the beak is long and thin…so no duck. After hearing and seeing what we thought were a couple of birds we saw people walking through this area looking and pointing up in the trees. Once we started looking around there were dozens of birds and huge nests up in all of the trees. They were everywhere…and big…with huge nests. I was so mad that I didn’t have a good zoom with me so I caught a couple of shots with what I had. We were baffled as to what type of birds these were. Mackenzie spotted some that almost looked like penguins sitting up there. So, I come home that night and look at the pics of these birds. By this time I’m bound and determined to put a name to the types of birds that these are. I mean where do you go from these clues…duck-like, penguin-ish, large, long beaks and nests high in trees. Oh and let me add that with big birds comes big poop as I discovered ALL OVER the top of my vehicle! Those dang birds kept me up until at least 2:00 in the morning. I poured over the Internet trying to figure out what they are. I think I narrowed down the black & white ones but not any of the other ones. Does this now officially make me a birdwatcher?:) The cool thing is that when I zoom in on a few of the pictures one of the birds is flying in towards the nest and you can see 3 baby birds with really long beaks peeking up from the nest towards their momma. Aawwww. On to one of my favorite families. I can’t believe I first met Miss K when she was turning 3 and now she’s 5. I’m betting that the next time I see her she’ll have lost some teeth. And her baby sister was so sweet with a huge, huge smile. Hope you guys enjoy your peek:) Miss K just turned 6 and is about to have her kindergarten graduation. Her mom saw a picture on my website that she wanted to re-create of her walking away with the spinny (I don’t know a name for this other than spinny thing…haha)thing to symbolize moving on to first grade. First we met and just took some pictures of her. Then mom and little sister jumped in for a couple and dad did a really great job of acting completely goofy to get some smiles. Miss K was not a big fan of picture taking. She kept telling me “this can be the last one” but looking at these you’d never know that she wasn’t hamming it up. Such gorgeous eyes and hair! Little sister wasn’t a fan of picture-taking either but she wasn’t feeling well so I don’t blame her. I wouldn’t be so smiley either. LOVE the pigtails:) These two were so friendly and amazing with each other. I don’t know if they always get along so good but I really think they not only love each other, but they like being together. They were both full of personality and mom melted my heart when she told me that the next day her son had wanted me and Cassidy to go with them for their ice cream treats. Such an adorable family. Mom and I had discussed the challenges going into the shoot. We had to do it during the middle of the day which means bright, bright sunlight. There are also, not one, but two 7-month-old girls. She explained that one of them is very happy and smiles easily. The other one is very pensive…but adorable nonetheless! They drove from across town hoping that the girls would take a nap but they didn’t and then they hit lots of traffic. We started with some posed shots and I tried just about anything to get smiles but they weren’t happening. We tried a couple of different set-ups and after just about giving up they started having some playful interaction and that turned things around. They are my faves! I really hope you guys love your peek. Mr. M is about to have his first of several surgeries to correct his cleft lip/palate and mom wanted to get some shots before this happens. He is so sweet. Very chilled out and loved to look straight at me. I would love to know what he was thinking about this crazy person in front of him. Here he is giving me some great eye contact. And sometimes we’d get a happy smile from him. Then he’s probably thinking that the crazy lady is coming at me from a different angle. I’d better keep my eye on her! Last time I saw Mr. B he was practically bald and immobile and now (especially because of his first haircut) he can move and looks like a little boy! Where does the time go? He was definitely a little charmer giving me hugs and wanting me to hold him. I just adore his mom and grandma and got to meet dad this time around too. While we were following him around I happened to see a friend of mine and her family drive by and they waved. The next day she teased me saying that at first they saw a toddler walking through a grassy field with weeds without a shirt and wondered who in the world would have a half naked toddler trampling through there possibly getting bit by mosquitoes. And that’s when they saw me. And she said it all made sense. They all said “Aaaahhhh, Laura would do this!” And to my defense the grass that we let him walk in wasn’t THAT tall (we carried him through the big stuff), we shooed any bugs away, and just about any photographer would do this:) I mean just because I took you and your kids to a dumpster for some pictures right after you moved in….. It was sooooo good to see and hang with you guys again. Hope you enjoy the peek:) |
