Family

I think this is the largest family that I’ve done a photo shoot for. The more people the more of a challenge it is to have everyone looking, smiling, eyes open, and with a natural smile. The best smile came after I tripped while stepping backwards on a rubber chicken that let out an awful screeching noise. They thought that was pretty funny! I’ll have to try and recreate that next time:) Sure, sure, laugh at the goofy photographer!

And no swapped heads…I promise:)

I knew…

we would get along great when she showed me her stash of “extras” that she brought for the photo shoot and there was a book from the Twilight series in there. I can’t believe that I’m admitting it here…but yes, I’m one of those…an older thirty-something mom that LOVES Twilight! It was kind of crazy oohing and aahing over it with a senior. Pretty pathetic, right? Oh well, I know that I’m not alone. Anyways, we had a blast going around to different locations (one of which was emailed to me that very day by another client…thanks Joy)!

I hope that you love your sneak peek! Thanks for hanging out:)

A New Little Girl

It seems like the newborns come in waves. I hadn’t had a photo shoot of one in a few months so I was excited to book 2 within a week. And here is the first new little one…so adorable.

I hope you like her sneak peek:)

“Peace Out”

I love my job

It’s been a crazy first couple of weeks of summer. The kids are home, we had some wood floors put in (which meant the house was all kinds of messy), we rescued a cat that thought she should get up in truck engines, had a block party that consisted of 2 Elvis’ and 1 Santa, and I’ve been juggling fitting in sessions. But even though my life feels crazy and ninety to nothing most of the time I’ve had several sessions lately that just make me so happy to be able to do what I do.

And in regards to my last blog post here is an email I received from Danny after we did the photo session of Buddy her 4.5 year old Beagle.
“On a sad note…just so you know…Buddy passed away this past Sunday at 4pm. He took a turn for the worse Saturday night, so I took him to a vet clinic in Galveston, where, luckily, I had a vet friend waiting for me. It was the hardest experience of my life. I miss him dearly. But, I am so thankful that I was able to find someone like you that was able to capture just how wonderful a dog he was. I am so grateful to you.”

I was so sad to read that but so happy to have been able to give her something that was so easy for me to do yet she would cherish…forever. I could tell just from being around her a short time that she’s an amazing young woman!

With photography I enjoy the challenge of seeing what I can capture that will tug at people’s hearts and I know that a lot of clients want (or think they want at first) the traditional posed, centered, matching kind of pictures. And sometimes that’s what I can deliver. But in all honestly my passion is for interactive pictures…the ones that you could never pose. The first picture in this post is a perfect example. I almost deleted this picture. At first glance I saw that Logan’s dad’s eyes were closed. But upon closer inspection I saw the adoring look that Logan had towards his mom. I cropped in tight and this is one of my favorite pictures ever. Can’t you just see in his expression how happy he is to be with his parents, goofing around. He’s such a little character.

These types of pictures are what keep photography fresh, challenging, and fun for me. Gina & family, I hope you guys love your little sneak peek. I really had a blast hanging out:) P.S. Thanks for the Dr. Pepper:)

Superdog!

As a self-proclaimed animal lover this shoot was amazing and bittersweet at the same time. Danny contacted me and told me about how her heart was breaking because her 4.5 year old dog baby had been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and only had about a month to live. We settled on that coming Saturday but within a few days she called again and said that he was doing worse and we decided to do the pictures that very day. His expressive eyes and long ears won me over immediately!

There were several moments where we were both getting teary-eyed. I have animals that feel like my babies and I know how much that is magnified before actually have your own children.

The photo shoot was short and sweet and Buddy looked like quite the model in his several outfits. I know that his life is being taken away at too young of an age but I have no doubt that he has had the most loving dog mom that a pup could wish for. I hope you love the sneak peek pictures Danny:)

Brother & Sister

These 2 adored each other. He was so good and she was really helpful. I was really impressed at how sweet she seemed at 13. I have this fear that when 13 hits my kids (girls especially) will turn into little monsters. I hope they can be as nice and mature as this sister was. I was really impressed!

Hope you enjoy your sneak peek:)

Nervous…in a good way

If it’s a challenge to take pictures of a 2-yr-old then how about add in a twin to that 2-yr-old and a 5-month-old sibling. I really was a little nervous but also excited to see what I could get for this family. As soon as I met them though I knew it was not going to be too bad. There are those families that seem like they have it all together (mom might disagree) but in my eyes they were an amazing example of a Christian family that exhibited patience, fun and kindness throughout the session with their children. The kids were so animated and gorgeous. I truly had a blast hanging out with them for the evening. Here’s some of what we got:

Their little one really is laughing in this one although it’s hard to tell.

Ms. P

Here’s a quick little session of Ms. Penelope who is getting quite big. Love the picture with her new little pouty look.

2 Beauties

I just had to let Cassidy tag along for this photo shoot. They mentioned that they were going to bring their Yorkie and Cassidy has always wanted a Yorkie so I knew that she’d love to go. But when I met the gorgeous senior that was there to do pictures and her dog, Addison, I think I was more excited than anyone. Her dog is absolutely adorable. I could just envision the pictures. More than once they were probably ready to get on with it and I was still popping off ideas that included Little Miss Royal Highness…she is just THAT cute (and get a load of her bow).

Her owner was not too shabby herself. Just a little drop-dead gorgeous:) And because they both need to shine I had to include a gallery for each of them. Hope you enjoy!

Hi, I’m Addison. Aren’t I cute?

What do you mean this is for your senior pictures?

And now here’s some that we actually took without her pup.

And she loves yellow…one of my favorite colors. We had to incorporate the bright yellow wall.

Handsome

This little guy was so adorable. He was not in a bad mood at all but he wasn’t giving up very many smiles. His poor parents tried everything imaginable and we were able to get a few.

I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend! When we were driving home tonight my 3-yr-old (Drew) asked why there were flags all around town and I said that it was for Memorial Day. He said “And Memorial Night?” Yes, that’s right buddy I guess if there is a Memorial Day then there must be a Memorial Night too. I hope that all of the military members and their families know how much we appreciate them and all that they sacrifice and do for our country.
